Authorities say the bodies of two newborns were found in a purple suitcase on an Arkansas road Friday afternoon.

According to a news release from the Cross County sheriff's office, the two were discovered on County Road 602 shortly before 1:45 p.m. The babies appear to have been twins, the release states.

The suitcase was reportedly found on the bank of a ditch.

The sheriff's office said no more information will be released about the case as of Friday afternoon. The investigation is ongoing.

Horrible. The mother could simply have abandoned them at a hospital rather than killing them. Surely she’ll be found. Hard to be pregnant with twins without someone knowing.
