Black bass are in winter mode and can be caught with Alabama rigs, jerk baits or crawdad-colored crank baits.
James Whittle at Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers said there has been little fishing activity because of the cold weather, but those lures may coax bass to bite.
Crappie are biting well in the Prairie Creek area 20 to 30 feet deep.
Hickory Creek Marina reports stripers are biting shad or brood minnows. Locate shad schools with a depth finder or fish where gulls are feeding on shad.
Try crappie fishing with jigs or minnows 10 to 20 feet deep around man-made brush piles, lay-down trees or any wood cover.
Beware of ice in the backs of coves on cold days.
Beaver tailwater
Lisa Mullins at Beaver Dam Store said anglers are catching trout with a Power Bait-waxworm combination.
The top lures are small spoons in gold-red or gold-silver. Good flies for trout include pheasant tails, midges, San Juan worms and Copper Johns.
Lakes Fayetteville, Sequoyah
Both lakes are closed. They will reopen Monday.
Swepco Lake
Kenny Stroud in Siloam Springs said several varieties of soft plastics rigged any style are working for black bass. Fish shallow down to 20 feet.
Swim baits and Rat-L-Traps are worth a try.
Eastern Oklahoma
Stroud recommends fishing for black bass at Lake Eucha with jerk baits or Alabama rigs
Bella Vista
Harvey Horne at Hook, Line and Sinker in Bella Vista said black bass fishing is slow. Try jerk baits or grubs at lakes Windsor or Rayburn in water that's 18 to 20 feet deep.
Trout at Lake Brittany are biting Power Bait or small spoons.
Table Rock Lake
Pete Wenners at Pete's Professional Guide Service said black bass can be caught with jerk baits or crank baits. Crappie are also biting jerk baits.
Secondary points in creek arms are good spots to fish.
Jigging spoons or ice fishing jigs worked 15 to 20 feet deep along points may also work for black bass.
