Authorities have arrested a suspect in the killing of a 24-year-old woman and her two children last month in Little Rock.

William Burnell Alexander, 21, of Little Rock was arrested shortly after 2 p.m. Monday on three counts of capital murder.

An arrest report shows Alexander is charged in the killings of Mariah Cunningham and her two children, Alayah Fisher, 5, and Elijah Fisher, 3. The bodies were discovered inside a unit at Rosewood Apartments, 6600 Lancaster Road, on Dec. 5.

A police spokesman declined to comment on the arrest, though another spokesman said in a video posted on Facebook later Tuesday that officers anticipate making a second arrest and that the investigation is ongoing. No information about a motive has been released.

Homicide commander Crystal Haskins also appeared in the video on Facebook.

"I want to say to the community: Justice has prevailed today," she said, while also offering condolences to the victims' family. "We hope that this will bring a measure of comfort to you."

Alexander made a brief appearance by video in Little Rock District Court on Tuesday morning. He did not speak directly to the court, and Judge Hugh Finkelstein ordered him held without bail.

Authorities said last week that investigators were still processing a significant amount of evidence and that detectives recently traveled to Chicago to interview a person of interest in the killings.

The arrest report lists Alexander's place of birth as Chicago.

Police last month offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the killings.
