Authorities have arrested a suspect in the killing of a 24-year-old woman and her two children last month in Little Rock.

William Burnell Alexander, 21, of Little Rock was arrested shortly after 2 p.m. Monday on three counts of capital murder.

An arrest report shows Alexander is charged in the killings of Mariah Cunningham and her two children, Alayah Fisher, 5, and Elijah Fisher, 3. The bodies were discovered inside a unit at Rosewood Apartments, 6600 Lancaster Road, on Dec. 5.

A police spokesman declined to comment on the arrest, though another spokesman said in a video posted on Facebook later Tuesday that officers anticipate making a second arrest and that the investigation is ongoing. No information about a motive has been released.

Homicide commander Crystal Haskins also appeared in the video on Facebook.

"I want to say to the community: Justice has prevailed today," she said, while also offering condolences to the victims' family. "We hope that this will bring a measure of comfort to you."

Alexander made a brief appearance by video in Little Rock District Court on Tuesday morning. He did not speak directly to the court, and Judge Hugh Finkelstein ordered him held without bail.

Authorities said last week that investigators were still processing a significant amount of evidence and that detectives recently traveled to Chicago to interview a person of interest in the killings.

The arrest report lists Alexander's place of birth as Chicago.

Police last month offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the killings.

@ DontGoThere The main purpose of BLM is to make police accountable for their violence against black people, but their mission is not limited to just the black race. Most orgainizations have a purpose just like the NRA have a purpose of making sure guns are available to white people. Where was the NRA at when the black man was gun down for carrrying a pellet gun that was for sale in Walmart? Everyone is against all violence, but when our government is able to kill without facing consequences than that's not good for anyone except for people that think that thier lost lives don't matter.

@CableGuy, The NRA is NOT just for putting guns in the hands of white people, but protects the 2nd amendment rights of ALL people, regardless of color.

"The NRA has a history of supporting civil rights. The group set up gun trainings for African Americans, when they were being harassed by the Ku Klux Klan in the early 1960s.

In fact, the NAACP in Monroe, NC, brought in the NRA to train its members. The training allowed one of the NAACP heads to successfully defend themselves against a KKK attack. No one was harmed and the attack was thwarted. "

All lives matter! The fact remains that this young man has ruined his life and the lives of the young lady and her children's remaining family members. I can't even imagine the evil that is lurking in someone that can murder a 5 and a 3 year old.

If this perp is found guilty, then I propose burning him at the stake. Then perhaps we’ll see a whisp of the evil in this abomination of a human.

Lets hope he is the "right" guy, not someone trying to cash in on the $50,000 reward and not a publicity stunt to calm the masses.
