A Jacksonville man was arrested Friday on accusations that he sent nude photos to an Instagram account that he thought belonged to a 14-year-old, then tried to meet up with her for sex, police said.

Mark Maples, 56, was arrested at Dupree Park around 2:30 p.m., according to a Jacksonville Police Department report.

On Friday, Maples communicated over Instagram, a smartphone app, with a person he thought was a 14-year-old girl, police said. The account actually belonged to a police detective.

Police said Maples sent nude photos, then made arrangements to meet the girl for sex.

He parked next to a vehicle he thought the girl would be in and had with him agreed-upon "items" for the encounter, the report said.

Maples was charged with engaging a child in sexually explicit conduct, Internet stalking of a child, sexual indecency with a child, all felonies, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a misdemeanor.

He was being held Saturday in lieu of $12,500 bond, according to the Pulaski County jail online inmate roster.

2 men in custody after pursuit in Little Rock

Little Rock police took two people, including a suspect in a shooting, into custody Thursday after a pursuit, authorities said.

According to an arrest report, Kaleb Dequan Patterson, 19, fled from Little Rock police in his blue Chevrolet pickup. Patterson struck another vehicle during the chase and did not stop, police spokesman Steve Moore said.

About 2:40 p.m., police took Patterson into custody near West 24th and Marshall streets, along with 18-year-old Gary Glenn Bradley. Bradley was wanted on a warrant stemming from a Dec. 1 shooting that wounded a 22-year-old at Foxrun Apartments, 1912 Green Mountain Drive.

When searching the vehicle, officers reported finding a gun, marijuana and scales, police said.

As of Saturday evening, Bradley was still being held at the Pulaski County jail in lieu of $250,000 bond, jail records show.

Patterson faces charges that include possession of a controlled substance, fleeing, failure to stop after an accident with injury and reckless driving. He was no longer on the jail roster Saturday.

18-year-old reports attack at bus hub

A man reported being raped and robbed at gunpoint Thursday evening by two attackers at Little Rock's downtown bus station.

The 18-year-old said he was using the restroom at 310 E. Capitol Ave., the listed address for River Cities Travel Center, about 6 p.m. when the two people walked in and locked the door.

One of them pointed what looked like a handgun at him, and the pair then tackled him to the floor and forced him to perform a sex act on them, according to the report.

The attackers took his cellphone and a $50 debit card and threatened to kill him if he told anyone what happened, the man told authorities.

Police are still investigating.

Becca Green, a spokesman for Rock Region Metro, the agency that operates the bus station, said the center is usually busy around that time, but a review of the security footage did not show three men in the bathroom together. Green added that the main area of the bathroom does not have a door.

Shot in foot, victim faces amputation

A man's injuries from a Little Rock shooting Thursday afternoon will require the amputation of his foot, police said.

The shooting happened a3:53 p.m. in the 1300 block of Adams Street, according to a Little Rock police report.

Officers later found the victim, 42-year-old Teli Clark of Little Rock, at UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock.

Clark told officers he was walking near 12th and Adams streets when a blue Pontiac Bonneville drove up. Occupants inside then yelled before Clark heard multiple gunshots, authorities said.

As Clark ran, he was shot and suffered a "large hole" in his foot, officers noted. Doctors told police his foot "would be amputated."
