FAYETTEVILLE -- A $50,000 gift commitment from a Little Rock couple to the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville will support a scholarship for in-state students.
The Henry C. Kelley Jr. and Stephanie Dailey Kelley Advance Arkansas Endowed Scholarship will give preference to students from Heber Springs or Cleburne County who are studying real estate, finance or accounting, or are enrolled in UA's business college.
Hank Kelley is chief executive officer and a partner in Flake & Kelley Commercial, a real estate business. He and his wife, Stephanie, both earned degrees from UA.
In fall 2017, UA enrolled 34 students from Cleburne County, according to UA data. Heber Springs is the county seat. The county has a population of about 25,264, according to a 2016 estimate from the U.S. Census Bureau.
Hank Kelley, who grew up in Heber Springs, in a statement released by UA said he wants students from small schools "to feel like they can be a part of the university."
