A 4-year-old boy is expected to live after accidentally shooting himself while inside a parked vehicle in southeast Arkansas, police said.

About 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Warren Police Department received a call that a child had shot himself in the face on South Martin Street.

The boy was transported to Bradley County Medical Center in Warren before being flown to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock in critical condition, Sgt. Tim Nichols said.

Nichols, citing information from family members, said the child was in stable condition Thursday morning.

The gun used had been kept in a purse belonging to the child’s mother that fell off the vehicle’s center console, according to authorities.

No charges are anticipated, Nichols said.

These parents were negligent at the VERY least. How does a child nearly blow his head off and parents aren't charged with negligence? Must be a white family; black parents are charged to the fullest extent for leaving a child in a car for under 10 minutes. By this logic sweating is more dangerous than blowing a head off #justicesystem

Ok Ruby, i got it....the laws are just more harsh on black people and thats JUSTICE. Black people should just accept it and shut our mouths, right? Those days are long gone Ruby, welcome to the 21st century

    "Must be a white family"

that's as racist a statement as any other. there isn't any place in this article where the race of anyone involved is mentioned. you just read it with a prejudice mind. you ARE part of the problem with racism.

Another example of how someone needs a gun to keep them & their family "safe."

I'm a racist because i don't agree with inconsistencies in our judicial system? Fine. I'd rather be labeled a racist than a liar. Justice is suppose to be fair, equal, the same for everyone. Its not! To call this justice you would have to be a liar and like being lied to....sorry guys but i'm about truth. Truth hurts sometimes

I don’t know how a mother (or father) lives with her/himself after allowing something like this to happen. Even if she has a CHCP it should be permanently revoked after this event. I find it reprehensible that she isn’t charged with anything. What if the child had died? And btw, I agree with LRD and I’m Caucasian.

I agree with LRDawg and I am white. It may be that a black family also would not have been charged either because ARkansas is full of gun nuts.
