Robbed of gun, pepper-sprayed in face, man tells Little Rock police

Little Rock police said a robber pepper-sprayed a central Arkansas man before stealing his gun and some ammunition Tuesday night in a Walgreens parking lot.

The 50-year-old victim told officers he had met the individual on a website called Gun Trader, and the person, whom he knew as "Jarod," had shown interest in purchasing his handgun.

When the two met at 9 p.m. at the pharmacy at 3901 W. Markham St. in Little Rock, the gun owner let the would-be buyer into his car and handed him the firearm to examine, according to a report from the city's Police Department.

The report states the assailant then pepper-sprayed the Mayflower man in the face and took off with the $400 handgun and 50 rounds of ammunition, worth $30.

Police wrote that the victim followed the robber, who fled south on Cedar Street, but was unable to find him.

The suspect was described as a white male who stands 6 feet tall and weighs 170 pounds.

No arrest had been made at the time of the report.
