A new personality is set to anchor the morning program at Little Rock’s KLRT-TV once its current anchor shifts to an in-studio sister station later this month.

Ashlei King will appear on Fox 16’s Good Day program, which airs from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. weekdays. She replaces Susanne Brunner, who was named co-anchor of KARK 4 Today on Monday. The show on Little Rock's NBC affiliate airs weekdays from 4 a.m. to 7 a.m.

Both stations are managed by Nexstar Broadcasting Inc. and are operated out of the same studio in Little Rock's Victory Building.

King referred to her “next chapter in Arkansas” as a “homecoming.”

“I’m a military brat, but the King side of my family is originally from southeast Arkansas,” she told Arkansas Online on Sunday.

King left San Antonio, Texas stations KABB-TV, a Fox affiliate, and WOAI-TV, an NBC affiliate, at the end of May. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.

“While one chapter is closing, an even greater chapter is beginning,” she said at the time.

Brunner, who joined KARK-TV and KLRT in 2013 as a weekend anchor and reporter, will begin her new on-air role July 23. She replaces Mallory Brooks, who now anchors the NBC station's KARK 4 News at 4 broadcast.

"Arkansas has become such a special place for me to call home the last five years," Brunner said in a news release.
