Springdale plant set to hire 50 workers

South Coast Baking Co.'s expansion of its Springdale plant will create 50 new jobs, the company said in a news release.

Along with TEC Staffing Services, it will hold a job fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday to recruit production workers for the full-time, permanent positions on the second and third shifts.

Company managers will take applications and interview candidates in the parking lot south of the facility at 800 S. 40th St. The recruiters speak both Spanish and English, according to the release.

South Coast Baking, based in Irvine, Calif., is a wholesale manufacturer of frozen bakery products. It makes frozen cookie dough at the Springdale plant for clients such as Sam's Club, Panera Bread Co. and Mrs. Fields.

The Springdale location opened in 2014 after the company invested $8.7 million to renovate the 104,000-square-foot building. A 90,000-square-foot addition received approval from the Springdale Planning Commission in April 2017.
