U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions will be in Little Rock Wednesday to talk about efforts to combat violent crime in the United States.

Sessions will hold a news conference at 10:50 a.m. at the office of Cody Hiland, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas, located at 425 W. Capitol Avenue. The event is open to media only.

Sessions and Mick Zais, U.S. deputy secretary of education, also will make a stop Wednesday at Lake Hamilton High School in Pearcy, which is near Hot Springs in Garland County.

U.S. Rep. Bruce Westerman, R-District 4, told The Sentinel-Record of Hot Springs there will be two roundtable discussions in Pearcy, one with law enforcement and one with the local community.

Lake Hamilton Superintendent Steve Anderson said the Federal Commission on School Safety is visiting schools of varying sizes across the country that are taking different approaches to school safety.

A group of invited guests will attend a roundtable discussion with Sessions. Guests will include local lawmakers, Lake Hamilton School Board members, other local superintendents, teachers, parents and patrons of the district, Anderson said.

Media will be invited in briefly, but the meeting will be closed to media members, Anderson said.
