Salute Old Glory at the Little Rock Wind Symphony's "Grand Old Flag," its 22nd annual Stars and Stripes Celebration for Flag Day, 7 p.m. Sunday on the front lawn of the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History in MacArthur Park, 503 E. Ninth St., Little Rock. Israel Getzov will conduct a program of marches, patriotic songs, music from movie soundtracks and Broadway show tunes. The Little Rock Air Force Base Honor Guard will present the colors; Boy Scouts of Troop 604 will lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Blue Bell Creameries will provide free ice cream, there will be free bottled water from Premium Refreshment and WoodmenLife will provide hand-held flags. 2 FAMILY FESTIVAL
Summer gets off to a rocking start at the Kidstock Family Music Festival, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the Hillary Rodham Clinton Children's Library, 4800 W. 10th Ave., Little Rock. The 106th Army Band will play mid-19th-century music as part of the festivities, noon-5 p.m. Saturday as the Old State House Museum, 300 W. Markham St., Little Rock, celebrates the 182nd anniversary of Arkansas' statehood. The "Work and Play"-theme event will provide information on Arkansas' industries, trades and pastimes of the period, via living history characters, and period games, including faro, checkers and skittles. A king grows jealous of his wife, leading him to make a series of terrible mistakes, in William Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale, with which the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre opens its 12th season, 7:30 p.m. Friday outdoors on the Lawn of McAlister Hall, University of Central Arkansas, 201 Donaghey Ave., Conway. The tomatoes are ripe on the vines and downtown Warren is gearing up for the annual Bradley County Pink Tomato Festival, Friday-Saturday. The festival includes arts and crafts, races, contests and a parade. Of course, there will be tomato-based activities such as the tomato-packing contest and the tomato-eating contest. Downtown Pine Bluff celebrates its Go Forward Pine Bluff revitalization initiative with Forward Fest -- Blues, Batter and Brew, Saturday, centering on the Jefferson County courthouse, 101 W.
