THE SCOOP Vaughan made an immediate impact as a freshman for a Bentonville program that won its third consecutive state championship in Arkansas' largest classification. ... Starting third baseman who batted .473 with 12 home runs and 49 RBIs. Also, went 6-1 with a 1.44 ERA as a pitcher. ... Had four hits each in victories over Sylvan Hills and Rogers Heritage. .... Had three hits and six RBIs in her varsity debut against Vilonia. ... Had a two-run double to lead the Lady Tigers to a win over Rogers when the Lady Mounties were in second place in the 7A-West. ... Enjoys swimming and hanging out at the lake. ... Will travel extensively this summer while playing softball with Tennessee Mojo, a team based in Cooksville, Tenn.

THE SCOOP Led Farmington to a 26-5 record that ended with a 3-2 loss to Greenbrier in the Class 5A state championship game at Bentonville. ... Lady Cardinals finished 13-1 in conference play and won 13 consecutive before falling by a run in the championship game. ... Osnes has coached softball for 22 years at Farmington and won over 500 games. ... He's led Farmington to state championships in 2000, 2005, 2011 and runner-up finishes in 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2018. ... Osnes also coaches golf and previously coached the junior high football team at Farmington.

DID YOU KNOW Osnes enjoys spending time with his granddaughter, Arlyn, 5, and grandson, Lochlan, 3.
