Style: He’s Back

Maybe you’ve noticed that our film critic Piers Marchant hasn’t been around much in the past couple of months. He’s been recovering from a heart transplant, and his convalescence will keep him out of the theaters for a little while. But as anyone who’s ever been laid up for awhile might understand, he didn’t just want to spend the days following the operation watching daytime television and surfing the Internet, so he devised an autodidact program. He set out to watch, in 30 days, 30 classic or otherwise important movies he’s somehow missed over the years. And then he proposed to write a series of columns about them. The first in that series runs in Friday’s Style section of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

And Piers also contributes his take on Incredibles 2, while Dan Lybarger chips in with reviews of Tag and Superfly and Philip Martin runs down the year’s best so far — and admits he’s way behind on his moviegoing. Plus Karen Martin on the week’s best home video offerings. So pick up Friday’s Democrat-Gazette.
