In addition to all the book distributions to Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter, Autumn's Reride and Youth Ranch, Goodman Elementary School, Laundry to Literacy, Habitat for Humanity of Benton County, One Community, the DEB Project, the Bentonville and Bella Vista libraries, the Samaritan Community Center, Gravette Middle School, New Beginnings Children's and Barbershop Books, they distributed nearly 2,000 dictionaries to third graders in Bentonville, Gravette and Pea Ridge school districts. Calico Cut-Ups

The Calico Cut-Ups quilt guild of Bella Vista will meet at 1 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Drive. The guild is for quilters of all experience levels and holds informational meetings to learn new techniques about quilting, to meet other quilters and to make new friends.

The speaker will be Deborah Rubles from Lebanon, Mo., who will talk about the sliding ruler method of cutting fabric. There will be a workshop from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Pat Coppola of Village Quilting will teach strips and strings piecing. Bring machine, strips of material 1½-inches by 2½-inches and basic quilting supplies. For those who don't have strips, there will be plenty at the class to share. There is no charge for the class.

There is a $5 charge for nonmembers who attend the meeting to help pay for the cost of the speaker. If you become a member for $25 a year, the meetings are free.

Harmony

Perfect Harmony Women's Barbershop Chorus will meet from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Monday in the choir room of the United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista. The group meets every Monday.

The chorus is currently seeking new members. No tryouts or previous experience is necessary to join. There are currently 25 active members, and the group performs for various clubs, organizations and events in Bella Vista, Bentonville and Rogers.

Garden Club

The Bentonville Garden Club will celebrate Arbor Day beginning at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. The celebration will begin with local artist Les Brandt, master woodturner, presenting a program titled "Seeing Beyond the Tree." Longtime Garden Club member Almeda Elliott will be honored for her years of service and dedication to the community.

Ozark Society

Join the celebration of the 46th anniversary of the Buffalo National River at 6 p.m. Monday in the Arvest Bank conference room on Legion Lane, off the Bentonville square. The Sugar Creek Chapter of the Ozark Society will welcome Lauren Ray, interpreter at the Buffalo National River, who has been called the "Rappin' Ranger" since she started creating fun raps to share her passion for national parks. The public is welcome.

CLIMB

Children's Lives Include Moments of Bravery is a Children's Treehouse Foundation family support group that helps children ages 6 to 12 cope with and share feelings about a parent or loved one who has cancer. The next group will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. every Monday from March 26 until April 30at Hope Cancer Resources, 5835 W. Sunset Ave. in Springdale. Registration is required.

BC Dems

The Benton County Dems will meet at 11 a.m. Monday at Golden Corral in Rogers with a program beginning at noon. Joyce Hale, League of Women Voters in Washington County, will speak on "The Health of Arkansas' Democracy," drawing from a comparative report of all states by the Center for American Progress.

Noon Rotary

The Bentonville Noon Rotary will meet for lunch at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Bentonville Community Center, 1101 S.W. Citizens Circle. Guests are welcome.

Swing Dance

The Northwest Arkansas Swing Dance Society will dance from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the University of Arkansas Union Ballroom. There will be music from the 1920s, '30s and '40s; bring a partner or come alone. There will be an intermediate East Coast Swing workshop from 2 to 4 p.m. and beginner lessons from 6 to 7 p.m.

Library Friends

The Bella Vista Friends of the Library membership drive continues until Saturday. An annual membership is $10 and family membership is $25. All memberships will receive a free paperback book from the Encore Book Store, as well as a 50 percent coupon for a one-time purchase of books before April 7. Memberships of $25 or more will be eligible for one of the donated meal certificates.

All proceeds are used to support the expansion project of the library. Membership fees may be paid at the library during regular business hours or mailed to the Bella Vista Public Library, 11 Dickens Place, Bella Vista 72714.

Cancer

Hope Cancer Resources offers a six-week art group, Art, Healing & Hope: Collaging Your Story, for patients with any type of cancer. Members will create a collage of their personal cancer journey. A light meal and all supplies needed for the project will be provided. The next group will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. every Thursday from April 5 until May 10 at Hope Cancer Resources, 5835 W. Sunset Ave. in Springdale. Members must RSVP to attend.
