Anderson powers UCA

Samantha Anderson hit .457 with 17 kills as the University of Central Arkansas defeated Abilene Christian 25-19, 26-24, 25-21 on Thursday in Conway.

Haley Tippett and Savannah Allen each added eight kills for the Bears (21-15, 11-2 Southland Conference).

Smith, Hardin key Harding sweep

Emily Smith and Zoe Hardin each had 10 kills for Harding University in a 25-14, 25-19, 25-16 victory over the University of Arkansas-Monticello on Thursday in Searcy.

Madison Poen had 17 digs, and Taylor Eubank added 12 for the Lady Bisons (22-7, 15-1 Greater American Conference), who finished the season as regular-season GAC champions and are the top seed for the GAC Tournament from Nov. 8-10 in Hot Springs.

OBU downs Arkansas Tech

Stormi Leonard had 47 assists, and Katie Camp had 18 kills for Ouachita Baptist University in a 25-23, 25-16, 25-21 victory over Arkansas Tech University on Thursday in Arkadelphia.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

Harding falls in GAC semifinals

No. 2 seed Southwestern Oklahoma State scored a pair of second-half goals and defeated No. 3 seed Harding University 2-0 Thursday in the semifinals of the Great American Conference Tournament in Shawnee, Okla.

Southwestern Oklahoma (13-4-1) advanced to Saturday's championship, where it will take on the winner of No. 1 seed Oklahoma Baptist and No. 4 seed Ouachita Baptist University.

GOLF

Overstreet to play in Texas event

University of Arkansas golfer Mason Overstreet will be among the nation's top collegiate golfers at the 44th annual Sun Bowl Marathon All-America Golf Classic, which is set for Nov. 18-20 at the El Paso (Texas) Country Club.

Overstreet, a junior, will be making his second appearance at the 54-hole event.

SWIMMING AND DIVING

Hopkin's school record leads UA

Junior Anna Hopkin set a school record in the 100-yard freestyle, her second record-breaking performance of the season, as the University of Arkansas won three events and placed in the top three in three others Thursday on the opening day of a two-day tri-meet at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo.

Molly Moore, Kobie Melton, Hopkin and Andrea Sansores won the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:31.59), setting a season-best time in the event.

Brooke Schultz also set a season-best, earning a 350.30 to win the 3-meter springboard.

Women's basketball

Williams leads UA in exhibition

University of Arkansas junior Kiara Williams had a perfect shooting night pacing the Razorbacks to a 101-46 win over East Central University in an exhibition game Thursday at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville.

Williams was 5 for 5 from the floor and 6 for 6 from the free-throw line, finishing with 16 points. She was one rebound shy of a double-double, grabbing nine boards in 20 minutes.
