DANCING THE NIGHT AWAY

Friends of Dreamland have ball at fundraiser

Music and dancing once again filled the historic Dreamland Ballroom on Nov. 3 for Dancing Into Dreamland. The annual event is a fundraiser for the continued restoration of the ballroom, which hosted many famous black musicians back in the ballroom's golden age.

The evening began with a reception and silent auction followed by remarks by Friends of Dreamland board member Ryk St. Vincent and founder Kerry McCoy.

After a performance by last year's winners, the O'Donovan School of Irish Dance, eight dance teams competed for the top prize with David Miller, Amy Bell and Christen Pitts judging the dancing. Winning Judge's Choice were the New Creation Dance Company with dancers Emily Harris, Kathleen Marleneanu, Erin Sanders and Saige Wood. The People's Choice award went to Ciara Callicott and Kelvin Jackson.
