Cystic Fibrosis Foundation benefit spotlights expectant couple

Breath of Life Gala, honoring expectant parents Anne and Mike Preston, on Nov. 3 featured a cocktail reception, silent and live auctions and dancing.

Held at the Statehouse Convention Center, the black tie-optional gala raised money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Arkansas Chapter.

Radio host David Bazzel of KABZ served as the master of ceremonies. Jerry Pavlas was the chairman of the event.

Mike Preston was appointed by Gov. Asa Hutchinson to lead the Arkansas Economic Development Commission in 2015.

Anne Preston anchors newscasts from Little Rock for a number of television stations in Delaware, Maryland, Florida and Mississippi.

The Prestons are both cystic fibrosis carriers -- a disease that causes lung infections and limits the ability to breath over time.

Their child, who is expected in January, has a 25 percent chance of having cystic fibrosis, according to the foundation.

The couple won't know until their son is born if he has CF. And they believe there will be a cure for the disease in their and their child's lifetimes.
