Locally shot The Boo to screen in Argenta

The Boo, a horror movie filmed largely in Arkansas by Missouri-based filmmaker Scott McEntire, will screen at 7:30 p.m. Monday at The Joint Theater and Coffeehouse, 301 Main St., North Little Rock. The screening is a pay-what-you-want event.

The film, described as a "Southern-gothic thriller about a bereaved small town sheriff and his recently widowed, estranged, sister-in-law" features many actors familiar to the Arkansas film community, including Brittany Sparkles, who played the lead in Jordan Mears' Vampire-Killing Prostitute (2015) , Clayton Bowman (2008's Injury Slight ... Please Advise) and Tom Kagy, well known for his stage work at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre and movie roles in Billy Bob Thornton's Sling Blade (1996), Jeff Nichols' Shotgun Stories (2007) and Josh and Miles Miller's All the Birds Have Flown South (2016).

The film is dedicated to Christopher S. Thompson, a Conway-based producer and cinematographer (2011's The Gleaning) who was scheduled to direct this film but died in February 2016. McEntire, a Little Rock native who had planned on playing the lead character, then took over as director. For more information or to make reservations, call The Joint at (501) 372-0205.
