On the ball: Razorbacks baseball coach steps up to plate for Boys and Girls Club

Razorbacks baseball head coach Dave Van Horn was honored as Leader of the Year on Nov. 1 by the Boys and Girls Club of Central Arkansas.

The evening at Penick Boys and Girls Club began with a VIP reception with Van Horn, who has coached at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, since 2013 and led the team to five appearances in the College World Series. Guests in attendance included former UA head baseball coach Norm DeBriyn and his wife, Caroline.

Justin Acri served as master of ceremonies for the program honoring the coach. Guests were welcomed by the club's board chairman, Harold Joyner, and guest speaker was Kevin Trainor, UA's senior associate athletic director for public relations. Guests enjoyed a buffet dinner and a silent auction that included signed Razorbacks baseballs, jerseys and helmets.

The sold-out event benefits Boys and Girls Club of Central Arkansas. Tabitha McNulty and Will Bond served as event co-chairmen.
