THE SKINNY: We know artisan breads, artisan cheese, artisan meats.
But "artisan peanuts?" That's what Pizootz brags of on its bags: "Flavor-infused premium Virginia artisan peanuts." But what stands out more on its packaging are flavor names: Baja Taco; New York Dill Pickle; Habanero; Bay Spice; Blazing Buffalo; Jalapeno; Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper; Sea Salt & Vinegar and Sea Salt. How can any snack that's taco-flavored (chile pepper, cumin, oregano, onion and garlic) or pickley (salt, garlic, dill seed, spices, vinegar) not be good?
However, what's different about these peanuts is not limited to their taste. It's their tidiness too. The powder-free peanuts, which are boiled in marinades and slow-cooked, leave no dusty nor oily residue on fingers.
Which is great because messy hands drive us nuts.
