Accounting added to online degrees

FAYETTEVILLE -- A new online bachelor's degree program in accounting is being offered, the sixth undergraduate degree program offered online by the university.

"With our online programs, we provide opportunities for students to pursue a degree whether they are new to college, completing a degree they may have started years ago, or seeking an additional degree to enhance their skillset," Matt Waller, dean of the Sam M. Walton College of Business, said in a statement.

The university's first online bachelor's degree program began in fall 2012, enrolling registered nurses to earn bachelor's degrees in nursing. Other online bachelor's programs are in human resource and workforce development, general business, interdisciplinary studies and communication.

The five previous online bachelor's degree programs have a preliminary fall enrollment of 666 students, according to information provided by UA. The new accounting program expects to enroll its first online, degree-seeking students this spring, said Kay Murphy, communications director of the Global Campus. Graduate degree and certificate programs also are offered.
