Two tornadoes uprooted trees and damaged property when they touched down Tuesday in Northwest Arkansas, National Weather Service surveyors said.
Meteorologists said the first dropped just south of Interstate 40 in Johnson County at 3:38 p.m. and lasted about a minute. During that time, the EF0 tornado uprooted trees along Johnson County Road 3010 and ripped a piece of roofing from a shed with its 85 mph winds.
The second twister, a weak EF1, developed just north of the interstate and traveled a little more than 1 mile over three minutes, according to the weather service. Wind speeds of 95 mph were reported.
The tornadoes formed from a thunderstorm that developed along the border between Johnson and Franklin counties and moved northeast through western Johnson County, meteorologists said.
