A Little Rock woman used the personal information of an Alzheimer's patient at an acute-care center where she worked to open and use a credit card, racking up more than $1,000 in his name, according to a warrant for her arrest.
Little Rock police officers arrested former Hillview Post Acute and Rehabilitation Center employee Kendra Yvonne King, 38, on Monday after she used the Social Security number and other information of a patient with Alzheimer's disease to open a credit card account, according to the warrant.
The theft was originally reported to a hospital employee, according to the warrant. The hospital investigated the claim, fired King and reported the theft to the Little Rock Police Department. A hospital employee told officers that the nature of King's job allowed her to view patients' Social Security numbers, medical records and bank account information.
King made a written statement in which she said she opened the account with the approval of the patient, though the patient told officers he did not authorize her to do so, the warrant said.
Officers arrested King on felony charges of identity fraud, abuse of an endangered or impaired person and theft by receiving and transported her to the Pulaski County jail. King was no longer listed on the jail's roster as of Wednesday evening. Court records indicate she pleaded innocent in Little Rock District Court on Wednesday.
