3:20 P.M. UPDATE:

Police said Friday afternoon that four teens have been arrested after two police officers were hit by a stolen car and severely hurt.

The Springdale Police Department identified 18-year-old Arommon Luther of Springdale as a passenger in the stolen Nissan.

He and the other three suspects face two counts of first-degree battery, leaving the scene of an injury accident, theft of property, fleeing in a motor vehicle and fleeing on foot, according to a news release. Luther faces an additional four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Officers Ashley Booth and Annelise Hoffman were struck by a car while responding to a call about suspicious people in the 700 block of Woodridge Drive around 3:30 a.m., authorities previously said. According to the agency, when Booth approached the car, he was hit and thrown onto its hood. Hoffman was hit as the teens drove away.

Booth and Hoffman suffered from head trauma and spinal injuries, according to a report from the prosecutor’s office that was released Friday afternoon. Both were taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police did not release the names of the three younger arrestees, whose ages ranged from 15 to 17, but said the car’s 15-year-old driver had been referred to the prosecutor’s office to be charged as an adult.

Luther was arrested around 9 a.m. Friday in the 100 block of Spring Street after fleeing, authorities said. According to police, Luther told investigators he was in the stolen car that hit the officers and that he left the scene.

Authorities said they had video footage of the four breaking into vehicles and the footage shows more people involved. The Nissan had been stolen from the neighborhood of Woodridge Drive shortly before the officers were hit, the report states.

The investigation is ongoing.

EARLIER:

Two police officers were severely hurt early Friday when they were struck by a car while responding to a call in northwest Arkansas, authorities said.

According to a news release from the Springdale Police Department, the pair went to an address in the 700 block of Woodridge Drive about 3:30 a.m. after a caller said a security camera showed two people outside his home.

When police arrived, they found several individuals inside a stolen Nissan Altima with its lights off, the release states.

Authorities said officer Ashley Booth approached the car and was struck and thrown onto its hood when the Nissan sped away. Officer Annelise Hoffman was also hit as the car fled, according to police.

The Nissan eventually struck the 911 caller's vehicle head-on, the release states, and everyone in the stolen car ran off. Four people were arrested after a search, according to police, who did not release the suspects' names.

Both officers were taken to a nearby hospital with severe injuries that were described as non-life threatening. The caller sustained minor injuries, authorities said. Department spokesman Capt. Derek Hudson said Booth has worked for the agency for 12 years and Hoffman has worked there for more than three years.

An investigation is ongoing, and police said more arrests may be made.
