Driver died days after crash in which pickup landed upside down in Little Rock creek bed, authorities say

A Little Rock man died six days after he was involved in an August crash, according to a state police report updated this week.

Larry Washington, 53, was driving a 1993 Toyota T-100 shortly before 3 a.m. Aug. 14 when the pickup traveled off West 36th Street and hit a guardrail, according to a Little Rock Police Department report. The pickup then hit two guardrail support columns, flipped and landed upside down in a creek bed in the 7700 block of West 36th, authorities said.

Terence Gulley, 50, suffered fatal injuries in the crash when he became trapped under the pickup, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette previously reported. Washington was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, the report states.

But the report was updated this week with new information. Authorities said Washington was found dead in his apartment Aug. 20, and an autopsy attributed the death to the crash.

At least 389 people have died in crashes on Arkansas roads this year, according to preliminary data.
