2-vehicle crash on Arkansas highway leaves woman dead, youth hurt

A 40-year-old Arkansas woman died Wednesday after her car veered into oncoming traffic and drove into a ditch, authorities said.

The wreck happened just before 4 p.m. on Arkansas 233 north of Miller Creek bridge in Batesville, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

Jessica Moore of Batesville was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Impala south on the highway when she crossed the centerline and hit a northbound GMC truck before coming to a stop in a ditch, the report states.

Moore suffered fatal injuries in the collision. A male youth who was a passenger in the truck was listed as hurt, but he was not identified.

Conditions were described as clear and dry at the time of the wreck.

At least 392 people have died in crashes on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
