Fire found in car; North Little Rock man arrested

A North Little Rock man tried to set his aunt's car on fire Thursday after she took out a protection order against him, according to an arrest report.

Officers went to the 3900 block of Glenmore Road on Thursday after a woman called and said her nephew, David Buchanan, 29, was trying to get into her home, despite the protection order she had filed against him, the report said.

Buchanan was standing in front of the home smoking a cigarette and, when officers asked him what he was doing, told them his aunt had been harassing him so he "decided it was time to harass her," the report said.

The officer reported smelling smoke and, when approaching the vehicle parked in the woman's driveway, noticed a lit towel and a bottle of engine oil in the floorboard of the car.

Officers had been to the residence earlier that day because someone matching Buchanan's description had broken out the woman's car window, according to the report.

Buchanan was in the Pulaski County jail facing a charge of arson and violation of a protection order with no bail set as of Thursday night.
