Mary Elizabeth Dixon - Jonathan Zell Barnett

Angelo's Garden in Mayflower was the setting at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, for the marriage of Mary Elizabeth Dixon and Jonathan Zell Barnett. Officiating was the Rev. Howard Gordon, retired from First Presbyterian in Little Rock.

Parents of the bride are Alisa Blaize Dixon of Little Rock and Holly Herzfeld Dixon and Dr. Keith Alan Dixon of Houston (Perry County). She is the granddaughter of the late Josie and Leo Blaize II of Port Allen, La., and the late Dolores and Charles Dick of Chicago.

The groom is the son of Anna Catherine and Jonathan Clay Barnett of Cypress, Texas. He is the grandson of Carolyn and Bradford Waller of Dallas and Lorraine and the late Zell Barnett of Montgomery, Ala.

Vows were exchanged at a gazebo which held an arrangement of purple and white roses, hydrangeas and ferns. The posts of the gazebo were decorated with curly willow, roses and hydrangeas. Music was by vocalist Amy Stone, guitarist Charlie Roberts and The Little Rock String Quartet.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a fit-and-flare ivory gown with a sweetheart bodice, scalloped lace hem and chapel train. She carried a bouquet of blue orchids, purple spray roses, white roses and hydrangeas.

Serving as her sister's matron of honor, was Ellen Cupit of Sherwood. Bridesmaids were Lena Saville of North Little Rock, Lindsay Darling of Conway, Diana Haggerty and Jena Zol, both of New York, and Lisa Weaver of Athens, Ga. Junior bridesmaids were Haley Cupit of Sherwood, niece of the bride, and Tyler Van Dyke of Houston. They wore teal chiffon gowns and carried bouquets similar to the bride's.

Flower girl was River Dixon of North Little Rock, niece of the bride, and ring bearer was Bennett Roberts of Cypress, nephew of the groom.

The father of the groom served as best man. Groomsmen were Charlie Roberts, Austin Harper and Michael Barnett, brother of the groom, all of Cypress; Michael Labatut of New Orleans; and Matthew Johnson of Walnut Creek, Calif. Guests were seated by Paul Dixon of Chicago and Mark Dixon of North Little Rock, brothers of the bride.

A reception -- also at Angelo's Garden -- was held after the ceremony. Guest tables were centered with lanterns and teal mason jars holding arrangements of purple spray roses, white roses, ferns, purple stock and roses.

The bride graduated magna cum laude from Pforzheimer Honors College at Pace University, New York, with a bachelor's degree in international management. She also has a bachelor's degree in environmental engineering from Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge. She is a water resources engineer with EIT certification at Gresham Smith.

The groom graduated from Texas A&M with a bachelor's degree in environmental geo-science and from LSU with a master's degree in environmental engineering. He is a licensed professional engineer in the field of environmental engineering for the State of Georgia and is a process safety engineer for Huber Engineered Woods.

The couple will live in Athens after a honeymoon in Ireland and Scotland.
