Arkansan competing on ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ TV show for six-figure contract

A 29-year-old Arkansan is set to compete on season 28 of The Ultimate Fighter on Wednesday night.

Justin Frazier’s first round, appearing in the third episode of the season, will air at 9 p.m. on Fox Sports 1, the athlete said Wednesday afternoon.

Frazier said he and the rest of the cast of 16 lived in Las Vegas for six weeks during filming. The Cave City native is up against seven other men for the Ultimate Fighter title, and a group of eight women also competed.

The 29-year-old tried out in May for the reality TV show. The winner will claim a six-figure, six-fight contract with UFC, Frazier said.

Frazier, a member of Team Gastelum, led by fighter Kelvin Gastelum, will fight Anderson Da Silva in Wednesday’s episode, he said. Da Silva is a member of Team Whittaker under reigning middleweight champion Robert Whittaker.

The 29-year-old got into fighting after being involved with sports, he said; he wrestled when he was younger and played football at Arkansas Tech University. His first foray into mixed martial arts was kickboxing, which he did to stay in shape in the football offseason.

He has a day job as shop manager for Dale’s Garage in Cave City, he said.
