Robbed of $50 while getting ride to Arkansas Children's Hospital, man tells authorities

A driver who offered a 20-year-old man a ride to Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock robbed him of $50 on the way, authorities said.

The victim told police he accepted the ride shortly after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to a report from the city's Police Department.

The driver picked up the Little Rock resident in a Pontiac at the Village Green Apartments, 7601 N. Chicot Road, and stopped near the intersection of 12th and Jackson streets, the report states.

Officers wrote that the robber pointed a handgun at the man and demanded his money. The 20-year-old gave him $50 and got out of the car as the driver fled south on Jackson Street, police said.

The robber was described as a black male who stands 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 120 pounds.

No suspect had been named, and no arrest had been made at the time of the report.
