Agency identifies Little Rock homicide victim as Arkansas Community Correction employee

A man found dead alongside his wife Sunday in their Little Rock home was an Arkansas Community Correction employee, the director said Monday.

Since 2005, officer William Gray, 37, had worked within the agency at different posts, including the Central Arkansas Community Correction Center and the Little Rock Area Parole Office, Director Kevin Murphy wrote Monday in a Facebook post.

“ACC lost one of its finest," Murphy said. "He was an excellent employee and one everyone appreciated being around."

Little Rock police previously said a 14-year-old boy found his stepfather, Gray, and his mother, 35-year-old Sonia Ann Gray, dead from gunshot wounds in the family's home at 8518 Westwood Ave. after returning from church.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been made, Murphy said, but Community Correction staff may wear a black mourning band across their badge until then.

"Please remember the family in prayer," he said. "Let’s also support employees in Area 7 & 8 who worked with William and are dealing with his loss. Rest easy, William...we’ll take it from here."

The deaths are being investigated as homicides, authorities said.
