Arkansas man, 63, dies days after car crashes into trees

An Arkansas man died several days after a crash in which the car he was in left the highway, entered a ditch and hit two trees, state police said this week.

Roger Watson, 63, of Hector was a passenger in a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu headed east on Arkansas 124 around 10 p.m. Thursday when the car went off the road in Moreland, according to a preliminary report.

The car's driver — 47-year-old Debbie Qualls of Hector — and Watson were hurt in the Pope County crash, the report states.

Authorities said the pair were taken to Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, where Watson was pronounced dead Sunday.

Conditions were listed as clear and dry at the time of the crash.

There have been at least 352 deaths in wrecks on state roads so far in 2018, according to preliminary data from state police.
