68-year-old Arkansan dies after being thrown from motorcycle in wreck

A 68-year-old Arkansan died after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing Saturday, state police said.

According to a preliminary report, Bobby Shaw of Lowell was headed east on the Arkansas 612 off-ramp to get to Interstate 49 when he lost control of his Yamaha in a curve.

He was thrown from the bike and suffered fatal injuries, the report states. The time of the Springdale crash was listed as "unknown."

Authorities said the weather was clear and the road was dry at the time of the wreck.

At least 355 people have died in crashes on Arkansas roads this year, according to preliminary data.
