Another pizza delivery driver robbed at gunpoint in North Little Rock, police say

A 35-year-old pizza delivery driver was robbed at gunpoint in North Little Rock on Saturday, and authorities believe the assailants may have driven off in a vehicle taken in the carjacking of another delivery driver the day before.

In a report released Friday, the city's Police Department said a Papa John's driver called 911 after 10:10 p.m. Saturday to tell authorities he was following a Dodge Stratus occupied by a group that had robbed him.

According to the report, the driver went to deliver pizzas and soda to a residence on West M Avenue but was met by four assailants, including two with handguns who demanded cash and his keys.

The victim handed over money, but the robbers "were not happy with the amount," the report said, and a scuffle ensued. The driver fended off the group and made his way back to his car, where one of the robbers tried but failed to grab the keys from the ignition, the report said.

The pizza driver then followed the group as they drove off in a Dodge Stratus, stopping only when 911 dispatchers convinced him to do so.

Police searched but didn't locate the car or any suspects.

The vehicle description matched that of one stolen from a Pizza Hut employee who was robbed at gunpoint the night before on Avalon Drive, police said. The Saturday report noted that there have been "multiple aggravated robberies in the past months involving young black males stealing vehicles from pizza delivery drivers at gunpoint," though it didn't provide an exact number.

A pizza delivery driver was also reported robbed at gunpoint in June in the 2200 block of Coors Drive in North Little Rock. And a driver was robbed at gunpoint last year at a Little Rock apartment complex.
