IN THE NEWS: Woman no longer faces jail time for taking phone from daughter; teacher who posted video of preschool children fighting charged; 160-foot-long Italian sandwich devoured

Jodie May, a western Michigan woman who was arrested on a larceny charge over a cellphone she took away from her 15-year-old daughter as punishment, no longer faces jail time after prosecutors dismissed the charges when they determined that the phone belonged to the girl and not May's ex-husband, who had told police it was his.

Thomas Williams, a Texas police chief, was suspended without pay for two weeks for failing to discipline a sergeant accused of sexual misconduct and for helping the sergeant flush marijuana, cocaine and other drugs down a toilet, potentially compromising criminal cases that relied on the drugs as evidence.

Chavay Williams, 30, a teacher in Columbus, Ohio, who posted a Snapchat video with the caption "knock out" showing some preschool children fighting in a fenced-in playground while other kids cried and tried to escape the enclosure, was charged with 21 counts of child endangering.
