Boy struck in face; North Little Rock man arrested

A North Little Rock man was arrested Wednesday after a 7-year-old child was punched in the face.

Pulaski County deputies went to the 5300 block of Young Road on Wednesday in response to a disturbance report and found a 7-year-old boy with a bruise on the side of his face, according to a police report.

Witnesses told deputies that Timothy Martinez, 49, had punched the boy with a closed fist, the report said. Martinez told deputies he had pushed the child down, but never hit him.

Martinez faces a charge of felony second-degree domestic battery and was in the Pulaski County jail with no bail set as of Thursday evening.

Woman drove into car, Little Rock police say

A North Little Rock woman was arrested and charged with assault after, police said, she rammed her white Jeep into the back of a man's car Wednesday and then told officers that she did so.

Little Rock police officers arrested Mylazshia Waits, 19, Wednesday after she said she had been driving the white Jeep when it hit the car, but would not give officers a statement about it, according to an arrest report.

Officers had originally been called to 5300 Baseline Road because of a fight or disturbance that included several family members, the report said.

Officers charged Waits with felony aggravated assault and transported her to the Pulaski County jail. Waits was no longer listed on the jail's roster Thursday evening.
