Pop-Up shoppers helping domestic violence shelter

Customers began lining up early when Women and Children First opened its fifth annual Pop-Up Shop -- billed as "Little Rock's most upscale retail re-sale event" -- with a Sip & Shop Preview Party on Sept. 13 at the shop, this time located in a vacant space near the food court at Outlets of Little Rock.

Once the doors opened, they poured in to pick up large paper tote bags and take advantage of the deals ... gently used and new women's designer evening gowns, career wear, casual-wear pieces, evening bags, jewelry and shoes as well as men's suits, sport coats, shirts, slacks and shorts from the city's top stores and boutiques, as well as the closets of their clients. Furniture and housewares were also plentiful. All merchandise could be had for a fraction of its original prices. A small army of purple-aproned volunteers stood by to assist. Between their forays into the racks, guests partook of hors d'oeuvres and wine and vied for $50 gift certificates to Tide Cleaners.

The Pop-Up Shop, a fundraiser for the domestic violence shelter, continued Sept. 14-15.
