A Conway man faces life in prison after being convicted of capital murder Wednesday.
A Faulkner County circuit court jury found Sammie Thomas Jr., 40, guilty of the charge after deliberating about 90 minutes. He was charged in the September 2016 shooting death of Robert Lee Givens, 66, also of Conway.
The state had waived the death penalty. Judge Charles Clawson Jr. sentenced Thomas to the life-without-parole sentence, Chief Deputy Prosecutor Carol Crews said.
