Musicians of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra will tackle music for winds and strings in the fifth concert of the orchestra's 2018-19 River Rhapsodies Chamber Music, 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Great Hall of the Clinton Presidential Center, 1200 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock.
The Etesian Winds — Diane McVinney, flute; Leanna Renfro, oboe; Kelly Johnson, clarinet; Susan Bell Leon, bassoon; and David Renfro, horn — will play What's Going On by John Steinmetz, which the ensemble commissioned as part of a consortium of American wind quintets, and, with pianist Tatiana Roitman Mann, the Sextet for Piano and Winds by Francis Poulenc.
Violinist Geoffrey Robson and pianist John Krebs will play the Violin Sonata by Claude Debussy.

Fayetteville performer Joe Purdy, with "special guests" the Honey Dewdrops (Baltimore-based duo Laura Wortman and Kagey Parrish) and Smokey & The Mirror (Fayetteville husband/wife duo Bryan and Bernice Hembree), will perform three times this week:

Clergy educational and fitness trainer Phyllis Hodges will discuss her book, 8 Years of Unforgettable History: The Allure of America's Firsts, 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Arkansas Department of Arkansas Heritage, 1100 North St., Little Rock. Hodges' lecture, part of the Arkansas State Archives' Pen to Podium series, will focus on Arkansans "who broke down barriers and became history makers," according to a news release. Postal history
"Rogers Postal History: From Stagecoach to Mail Truck," a look at postal service and post offices in Rogers since 1840, will be on display Saturday-July 13 at the Rogers Historical Museum, 313 S. Second St. at Cherry Street, Rogers.
Also on display at the museum, through July 1: "Early Medicine of Northwest Arkansas," examining the practice of medicine from the late 1800s to the early 1900s, with a focus on the tools doctors used, Victorian embalming tools and unique or odd medicines and devices.
