Multiple people were injured Saturday evening on a ride at the Benton County Fair, according to a Bentonville firefighter.
Two ambulances and a fire truck went to the fairgrounds on Southwest Regional Airport Boulevard about 8 p.m., Battalion Chief Justin Scantlin said.
Crews found a cart from a miniature roller coaster had derailed, causing injuries to the people on the ride, Scantlin said. An ambulance took two people to a hospital and a third rode in a car to the hospital.
Scantlin said he doesn't know how the cart derailed. The state Labor Department inspected the carnival rides before the fair opened, he said.
The ride shut down and the state is conducting an investigation, according to a statement by Susan Koehler, director of the fair.
Saturday was the final day of this year's fair.
