Man fatally shot in west Little Rock, police say

12:49 P.M. UPDATE:

Little Rock Fire Department officials found a man who had been fatally shot Tuesday morning while responding to a call in west Little Rock, a police spokesman said.

At 9:41 a.m., Little Rock firefighters responded to 8017 W. 35th St., where a 911 caller said a man was “unresponsive,” Little Rock police spokesman Lt. Michael Ford said. Firefighters found that the man, who had been shot, was deceased.

Emergency services arrived on scene at approximately 9:47 a.m, and Little Rock police shortly after at 9:51, Ford said. The man, who police have not yet publicly identified, was found in the front room of the house on the corner of W. 35th and Gillman streets.

Ford said officers took a witness in for interview, though authorities did not say whether the witness was the same person who called 911.

Ford said the investigation is ongoing.

Little Rock police said Tuesday morning that detectives were on the scene of a homicide.

The Little Rock Police Department reported the homicide at 8017 W. 35th St. in a tweet just after 11 a.m.

Lt. Michael Ford, spokesman for the department, said he couldn't immediately provide any additional information.

An Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reporter is headed to the scene.
