Jimmy Corley, CPA, of Little Rock was recently recognized as the recipient of the 2019 Lorraine P. Sachs Standard of Excellence Award, which recognizes state Board of Accountancy executive directors for their leadership and commitment to improving the effectiveness of accounting regulation, locally and nationally. The award was presented by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy during its 112th annual meeting in Boston.

• Second-year student Andrea Zekis of the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service was recently named a finalist for the 2020 class of the Presidential Management Fellows Program (PMF). Run by the U.S. government's Office of Personnel Management, the program is a flagship development leadership program created for advanced-degree candidates, focusing on developing a cadre of potential leaders in government. Finalists who ultimately receive appointments participate in a two-year training and development program within a U.S. government department or agency. Finalists have 12 months from the announcement of their selection to accept and start a PMF appointment. "I'm thankful and honored to be chosen as a Presidential Management Fellow," Zekis said. "I'm grateful to be acknowledged for my skill, talent and dedication to public service, but this also speaks very well of the Clinton School and the preparation and opportunities they have afforded me to get to this moment. I am both elated and humbled, because I understand the importance of this fellowship to building public servants, leaders and our country."

Brandi Laster was voted as chief justice of Southern Arkansas University's Student Government Association. Laster is a sophomore game, animation and simulation design major from Little Rock. Members of the Student Government Association represent the student body and act as liaisons to colleges and administration. In addition to communicating for the student body, the student-run organization is involved in the coordination of homecoming activities and community service. It also serves to resolve parking appeals and supervise student government elections
