Saline Junior Auxiliary to use party proceeds to curb hunger

BENTON -- Havana Nights -- a tropical-inspired gala by the Junior Auxiliary of Saline County -- was held Jan. 26 at the Benton Event Center.

Guests were invited to attend wearing their "Havana best" and many arrived wearing attire fit for a party in the tropics. Tables were centered with colorful arrangements of tropical flowers. For entertainment attendees could watch salsa dancers or try their luck at several different casino games.

For dinner, partygoers could choose from Pollo en Salsa, Cuban Sandwiches and Ropa Vieja. For dessert there was Bananas Foster and Tres Leches Cake. At the bar, choices included Cuban punch and bourbon and Coke.

The auxiliary will use the money from the gala for various projects including their next one, which will provide bags of food -- three meals and a snack per day -- for children at risk of hunger during spring break.

Alicia Parsons chaired the event. Co-chairmen were Hannah Harney and Heidi Freeman.
