LITTLE RED RIVER (GREERS FERRY TAILWATER) Generators are running about 12 hours a day. The river does not drop to low water stage before the next slug of water arrives, so wade fishing opportunities are limited. Fly fishermen are doing well with egg patterns, San Juan worms and streamers during high water conditions, and midges, soft hackles, sowbugs and streamers during normal water conditions. Hot pink, cotton candy and white bodies on chartreuse jigheads are recommended for Trout Magnet spin fishing.

WHITE RIVER In current from four generators, brown trout and rainbow trout have been biting 4- and 5-inch stickbaits, like Smithwick Rogues in a variety of colors. White belly/black back is a good choice on overcast days. Orange belly/blue back is good for sunny days. "Table Rock Gold" is also a productive color right now.
NORFORK TAILWATER All of the lakes in the White River System are now above the top of the power pool. More high water will be seen and there will be little if any wadable water. The most productive flies have been small midge patterns like ruby midges, root beer midges and zebra midges. Black or red with silver wire and silver bead are best. Soft hackles like the green butt are working well, too. Egg patterns also have been productive. Double-fly nymph rigs have been very effective. Try a small Y2K suspended 18 inches below a brightly colored San Juan worm. Best colors are hot fluorescent pink or cerise. The fishing is better in the morning.

SPRING RIVER Trout are biting olive woollies and Y2Ks. During insect hatches, a pheasant tail, hare's ear or Copper John work great. Let the fly swing out at the end of the drift with short fast strips back upstream. Hot pink and orange Trout Magnets are hot on spinning gear. Brown trout have been biting crankbaits.

LAKE HAMILTON TAILWATER Bank fishermen are catching trout on waxworms or mealworms floated just off the bottom with a marshmallow floater. Redworms or nightcrawlers also will be effective if presented in the same manner. Fly fishermen can catch limits of fish with PowerBait on Carolina rigs. Spin fishermen are successful casting silver or gold Super Dupers near rocks in current.
