Teen fatally shot in eastern Arkansas apartment building; 1 arrested

7:55 P.M. UPDATE:

A 14-year-old boy was arrested after authorities in eastern Arkansas said he shot another teen to death inside a West Memphis apartment.

The West Memphis Police Department said in a Facebook post that officers responded to a suspected shooting Wednesday in the 2300 block of Goodwin Avenue. Upon arriving on the scene, officers said they located a deceased 15-year-old male inside the apartment.

Detectives arrested a 14-year-old male in the shooting and charged him with second-degree murder, the Facebook post states.

Police said Laquincia Marshall, 18, who lived at the apartment, was arrested for a felony count of hindering apprehension or prosecution for providing detectives with false information.

EARLIER:

Authorities in eastern Arkansas said a 15-year-old was found dead Wednesday evening inside a West Memphis apartment.

The West Memphis Police Department said in a Facebook post after 7 p.m. that officers were responding to a suspected shooting in the 2300 block of Goodwin Avenue.

It wasn't immediately clear if police have made an arrest.

Authorities haven’t identified the teen or named any suspects.

Police said they were still investigating the shooting Thursday morning.
