Trio's valentine

The Johannes Trio -- pianist Timothy Smith, violinist Geoffrey Robson and cellist Felice Farrell -- offer "A Classical Valentine," 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 4106 John F. Writer's work

Trenton Lee Stewart, Arkansas native, Hendrix College alumnus and author of Flood Summer and children's novels, including The Mysterious Benedict Society series and The Secret Keepers, will read and discuss his work at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Reves Recital Hall at Hendrix, 1600 Washington Ave., Conway.

The free program is under the auspices of the Hendrix-Murphy Foundation Programs in Literature and Language. A reception and book signing follow in Trieschmann Gallery. Stewart is also writer-in-residence at Hendrix for the spring semester and is teaching a class on writing and publishing fiction. Delta deadline

Wednesday is the deadline for artists to submit work for the 61st annual Delta Exhibition, showcasing artists living and working in Arkansas and its border states, on display May 3-June 30 at the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock. The competition is open to all artists who live in or were born in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee or Texas. All work must have been completed in the last two years and must not have been exhibited previously at the Arts Center.

Artists may submit up to three entries; entry fee is $20 for one work and $10 for each additional entry. Notifications will be emailed on March 1 and all accepted work must be received by March 24. Artists will be responsible for all shipping arrangements. Enter information and upload images of your work via Arkansas-ArtsCenter.org/delta.

Atlanta-based sculptor and painter Kevin Cole, an Arkansas native and a 1982 graduate of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, will select the works for the exhibition, as well the winners of a $2,500 Grand Award and two $750 Delta Awards. The Contemporaries, an auxiliary membership group of the Arkansas Arts Center, will select a winner for a $250 Contemporaries Delta Award.

Museum grants

April 11 is the deadline to apply for the Department of Arkansas Heritage's Small Museum Grants Program, which funds projects for up to $2,500 for Arkansas history museums, historical societies, historic houses and sites and military museums. Eligible organizations must have an annual operating budget of $250,000 or less; must have a staff of at least one person, either paid or volunteer; and must be open to the public at least 90 days per year.

Grants can cover maintenance, operating costs, equipment purchases up to $1,000, accessioning of artifact collections, educational programming, research, exhibits and website design and maintenance. Drain Smart art

In its fifth year, Drain Smart, a public art program aimed at raising awareness, education and protection of local water resources that has resulted in murals on many Little Rock storm drains, is expanding to North Little Rock and Bryant. The Drain Smart Committee is seeking artists to submit ideas for murals for 18 more storm drains in the three towns. Artists whose plans are selected will receive a $150 stipend and basic paint supplies. Deadline is March 15 to submit applications along with a sketch of the idea. The committee will notify artists by March 29; all art must be completed by June 3. A public vote will decide the winner of an additional final prize.
