Planning for April

Deja vous

Today was an interesting experience for me, sort of a step back to my not too past working days. I went down to Hope with my replacement Berni, and the 2019 AR MG state conference planning committee--Linda, Jane and Julie.

I rode as a passenger in my old state car. It was kind of nice not having to drive, particularly since it was such a messy day. It was somewhat reminiscent of the last time I drove the team down there--it rained non-stop coming and going. Not pleasant weather to drive in, much easier to sit back and let someone else drive!

Our purpose in going today was to finalize some plans for the state conference, but also to do a video recording of the facility so they can show it to County 76 as a walk through for the volunteers. Since County 76 is sponsoring the conference, we didn't feel it would be fair to have folks drive down to Hope two times in a month, so they will be having a virtual walk through. Julie an I recorded the session today.

We walked through the whole facility to point out what would be taking place in each area. If you have not been to Hempstead Hall on the UA Hope Campus, you are missing out. This is a fabulous facility and the community is blessed to have it--as are we!

Why, you may ask (as my children have) am I still involved with this conference, now that I am retired. We had to start planning over a year ago, and registration went live 2 weeks after I retired, so I did agree to come back and assist with the conference, since I had helped set it up. These volunteers (and now I am one too) have really worked hard planning this event and it is going to be outstanding. Registration is still open, but filling up nicely. Master Gardeners still have until March 1 for early registration, and up until March 29 for final registration. Julie has been sending out the links to register, so if you need help, give her a call. Lots of great pre and post events as well. Hope to see you in Hope in April!
