Great Backyard Bird Count

POWHATAN — The Great Backyard Bird Count: Beginner Birdwatching will take place from 10-11 a.m. at the Powhatan Male and Female Academy (schoolhouse) at Powhatan Historic State Park, 4414 Arkansas 25. Join the park interpreter to learn about native bird species in Powhatan. Participants are asked to count birds for as little as 15 minutes (or as long as they wish) on one or more days of the four-day event and report their sightings online at birdcount.org. Batesville Indoor Triathlon II

BATESVILLE — The city of Batesville Parks and Recreation Department will host the Batesville Indoor Triathlon II on Saturday at the Batesville Community Center. The triathlon consists of a 250-yard swim, a 6-mile bike tour and a 1 1/2-mile run. All legs of the race will be timed. Waves of 10 will begin every 30 minutes, starting at 8 a.m. Event check-in and packet pickup are at 7 a.m. Registration is open, and all who are registered by today will receive an event T-shirt. Free Fly-Fishing Class

A Moment in Time Photo Exhibit

SEARCY — The Stevens Art Gallery at Harding University is featuring a Black History Month photography show titled A Moment in Time through March 1 on the third floor of the Olen Hendrix Building. The exhibit primarily contains the work of Virginia Bradley, along with contributions from Harding sophomore Roosevelt Presley.
