Lover's ex injured; boyfriend charged

A Hensley man was arrested Wednesday and charged with stabbing his girlfriend's ex-husband in the abdomen several times in late January, court documents said.

A Pulaski County deputy pulled over a vehicle after a traffic violation on Jan. 21 and realized the front passenger, Alberto Castillo, 29, was bleeding from stab wounds, an affidavit for arrest said. Castillo told the deputy he'd been stabbed at a beauty parlor near Baseline and Doyle Springs roads, the affidavit said.

Little Rock police officers interviewed Castillo when he was well enough to speak and he reportedly said that Patricio "Bato" Hernandez, 28, Castillo's ex-wife's boyfriend, had stabbed the man, the affidavit said.

Officers arrested Hernandez on Wednesday on a charge of first-degree battery and transported him to the Pulaski County jail, the report said. Hernandez was not listed on the jail's roster Thursday evening.

The child's 15-year-old older sister walked into the room and screamed when she saw Phillips on top of the girl with his pants pulled down, the report said.

Phillips was in the Pulaski county jail as of Thursday evening in lieu of a $500,000 bond, according to jail records.

Impatient patient said to strike nurse

A Roland man struck a nurse in her chest multiple times after she directed him to the check-in area at a veterans hospital Thursday, according to an arrest report.

Veterans Affairs Police Department officers said Gary Wayne Burney, 67, walked into the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System hospital Thursday afternoon and told the first nurse he encountered that he needed to be seen, the report said.

When the nurse directed him to the check-in area, Burney "became upset" and hit her in the chest three times and threatened to kick her, the report said. When officers arrived, Burney immediately requested a lawyer and was arrested on charges of terroristic threatening, disorderly conducts and three counts of third-degree battery, the report said.

Officers said the incident was caught on camera.

Burney was in the Pulaski County jail as of Thursday evening without bail.
